Open 2023 Poems - Anne Mikusinski
And Other Reasons
        By Anne Mikusinski
Lying awake
        Thoughts lingering
        Then moving on
        Concerning why and
        How
        Things change
        Without permission or
        Explanations
        Everything is tenuous
        As late night scrolling through
        Various lives
        Some here
        Some gone
        Pausing again at one
        Who exists only in memory
        Perpetually
        Almost half my age
        And wondering
If away from all of this
        He sleeps in peace.
Anne Mikusinski from U.S., has always been in love with words, whether they have been read or spoken aloud. She has been writing poems and short stories since she was seven years old. Her influences range from Dylan Thomas and Sylvia Plath to David Byrne and Nick Cave. She hopes that someday, her writing will be as much of an influence on someone as these writers have been on her. |
