Shishir (Winter) 2020 Poems - Deepshikha Sharma

Amber

By Deepshikha Sharma

Resin armour against the pest
Gets trapped in ancient barks by chance
Destinies fossilised in the ridges
Amber, by happenstance
Metallic birds get delayed
Golden light bounces off your glasses
An empty seat on your left
Amber, through serendipity
Neon sunshine seeping through our entwined fingers
Yellow streetlight witnessing our touching lips
Soft candlelight sensing the merging of bodies
Amber, from fortuity
Untraced, shared histories
Interstices in invisible gold ink
Healing through bread in the meadows
Amber, in luck
Pinewood scent, and glowing skin
Golden heart, and contagious laugh
Electric love, soothing friendship
Ode to my Amber
Found by Fate
