Ray's depiction of Sheriff Cull Campbell who terrorized black civil rights marchers in the 50's and 60's in Georgia. Howard Zinn wrote of Campbell in the Nation Magazine December, 1962, in an article entitled Excerpt from You Can't Be Neutral on A Moving Train.
