Be the Martyr

By Ikechukwu Obiorah

When push comes to shove in
The complex border of division
Cross swords with the wallet of
Your flesh and fight your fears

When souls pull away with divided
Loyalties in the border of confusion
Run against tide or bump head with
Cold feet and fight for breath of unity

When the mood strikes in the pathway
To traverse path with the consciousness
Of crossfire and bombardment of storm
Carry on to take the bullet with dignity
The earth was birthed in red body fluid

When crossing the divide of silent curse
Put on the armor plate of spine and spunk
And stretch neck in the heat of hot spell
To pull souls out of the stroke of death
Be the martyr smiling souls out of the blue.
